CUSTOMERS RAVE:
"At last, a book on pool that EXPLAINS what you are trying to do and doesn't assume you are
related to Willie Mosconi. You gain a better understanding of the reactions of the cue ball and an
accurate insight of where the target ball will go. Well written, beautifully illustrated, and logically laid out,
this book has already shown improvement in my game and will do the same for yours."
"As a chef and pool fanatic, I have, over the years, built an extensive pool and cookbook library.
While the culinary arts have mastered the recipe for successful publishing, it's about time pool authors and
publishers released a FULL COLOR edition of a pool instruction book. This book has awesome color diagrams,
photos and brilliant content. If you are even remotely serious about playing pool, or know someone that is,
for less than $20, Precision Pool is a must! Don't hesitate to order this book. If this can't help your game,
give up - nothing can!"

CUSTOMERS RAVE:
“I have taken several hours of private lessons and this
book covered the same subjects. It is a good refresher and guide
to improving your game.”
“It would be fair to say that I learned more from this
book than any other I have used in over forty years of pool and
3 cushion play. I use this book frequently in conjunction with
teaching students at all levels of ability.”
“As a player of six years, I can honestly say that this
book offers a lot of important information that is left out of
most other books.”
“For anyone looking to take their game to the next level,
Precision Pool is more than just an excellent reading resource.
Of all the publications I have on the subject, this one in particular
is kept near the pool table for use as a reference.”

POOL PLAYER'S EDGE
FROM
BOOKLIST
General pool instruction books are many, and all face the same
challenge: balancing the different needs of beginning and intermediate
players. Too many basics, and better players will feel cheated;
too much esoterica, and novices will be lost. Kanov and Stauch,
of Pool & Billiard Magazine, do a nice job of splitting the
difference here.
In Part 1, "Becoming a Player," they break the game
into "The Essentials" (the physical elements of play);
"Perfecting Your Aim"; "Top-Shelf Shots" (more
accomplished tools that are nonetheless often useful or necessary);
"Mapping the Table" (learning positional strategy);
and "Mastering the Mind Game" (addressing the key mental
aspects of a game where, really, you play yourself). Parts 2 and
3 focus on eight-ball and nine-ball, the country's two most popular
games. Clean layout makes lessons easy to locate, and attractive
diagrams usually make them easy to understand… Keir Graff

CUSTOMERS RAVE:
“The book is filled with great diagrams, as usual, and further
uses some great action photos of real pros to illustrate the concepts
provided in the text. It is a real thinking-man's book and I enjoyed
it thoroughly.”
“I really enjoyed Precision Pool, but I loved The Pool
Player's Edge! The first section gives the reader tools to diagnose
and fix problems in fundamentals, which everybody needs... The
"Quick Fixes" work great to get you back on track. But
the real joy of this book is in the last two sections on 8-ball
and 9-ball. The sections break each game into Phases - Opening
Game, Middle Game and End Game that provide the reader with winning
strategies and key shots to employ those strategies.”

YOU CAN DO IT!
Another
2005 release around which Shari Stauch appeared in several book
events is You Can Do It! Once in a while, a project comes along that’s got, “Boy,
I wish that was my idea” written all over it. This is that
book. Conceived of by Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas, a heroine killed
in Flight #93 on 9-11, YCDI features 60 female mentors inspiring
other women to try their hand at everything from knitting a scarf
to beating the boys at pool. Mentors
don’t make one thin dime; proceeds go to Lauren’s
foundation that’s already contributed to a center for abused
women and children, and scholarships for high school senior women.
This is a project that’s empowering women
from coast to coast!

Pool & Billiard Magazine is the
sport's oldest monthly magazine and boasts the largest readership
of billiard businesses, players and fans. The company was founded
in 1983 by Harold Simonsen and Shari Stauch, originally titled
the Pool & Billiard Scratch Sheet, a small monthly
newsletter. The infant publication grew out of their relationship
with the sport through the family business, Harold's Pool Parlour,
which was opened in the Chicago area in 1976 and operated for
over twenty years before the staff headed to the warmer climes
of Charleston, South Carolina in 1998.

SPONSORING THE SPORT
Since Pool & Billiard Magazine's creation in 1983,
it has been the leading publication in the promotion and sponsorship
of national, regional and local events. Beginning in the 1980s,
Pool & Billiard Magazine produced the National 9-Ball Classic tournament, which became
the model for the event portrayed in the 1986 movie, "The
Color of Money" starring Paul Newman and Tom Cruise.
From 1993 through 2001, Pool & Billiard
Magazine was Title Sponsor of the WPBA Classic Billiard Tour,
became the first Billiard Media Sponsor of the WPBA Classic Tour
in 1999, and continues to be a WPBA media partner.
Pool & Billiard Magazine also supports
the Billiard Education Foundation and annual BCA Junior National
9-Ball Championships, the Viking Tour, the United Pool Players
Association (UPA), along with dozens of regional and local tour
and charity events.
INDUSTRY
INVOLVEMENT
Pool & Billiard Magazine is a member of the Billiard
Congress of America, the Women's Professional Billiard Association,
the United Poolplayers Association, the Billiard and Bowling Institute
of America and the American Cue Makers Association.
From 1990 to 1993, Shari Stauch was the Secretary General of the World
Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) and in 1998 served as the Pubic
Relations Director for the World Confederation of Billiard Sports
(WCBS) which gained recognition of the cue sports from the International
Olympic Committee (IOC). From 1990 to 1995, Shari served on the
board of directors of the Billiard Congress of America, chaired
the BCA's Long Range Planning Committee, and in 1994 became the
founding president of the BCA's Billiard Education Foundation.

PROMOTIONAL
PROJECTS
Pool & Billiard Magazine was selected in 1986 as
a consultant to the Academy Award winning film, "The Color
of Money," and worked as a liaison to the
billiard industry for product placement. Pool & Billiard
Magazine helped design the final tournament set and became
the only billiard publication to receive film credits. Harold
Simonsen, publisher, was also chosen for the part of the Tournament
Director. Harold Simonsen and Shari Stauch were consultants with
film credits.
In 1990 Pool & Billiard Magazine created
"Pool & Billiard TV Magazine", a contemporary monthly
television show that aired on Sports Channel of America, co-hosted
by Ewa Laurance.
Between 1993 and 1997, P&B formed
SPL Group to handle Marketing, Media and Public Relations for
the WPBA and brought in the women's first out-of-industry Tour
Sponsor -- Gordon's Gin and Vodka, which resulted in the ESPN
televised Gordon's Tour.
In 2002, Pool & Billiard Magazine
developed Pool & Billiard Rated Player International, a score
and average tracking system for participants of Ninety-Nine Pool-Billiard
(an offensive game providing players with an average score similar
to golfers and bowlers).
P&B underwent a redesign by Shark Marketing in 2009, along with upgrades
to its highly successful website at http://www.poolmag.com
